Bill Clinton was the first Democratic president since Franklin D. Roosevelt to win a second term. His presidential resume contains respectable advances in foreign diplomacy and progressive legislation. He could boast that his administration oversaw one of the most robust economies in American history. Unfortunately, all of Clinton’s good expansions ended on a unpleasant note because human nature affects even presidents, and he could not conquer the measure of morality that comes with representing the United States.

William Jefferson Blythe III was born on August 19, 1946 in Hope, Arkansas. He never knew his real father, who was killed in a car accident three months before he was born. When Bill was seven years old, his mother married Roger Clinton, and Bill took the family name. Clinton excelled in high school, and in 1936, he was selected for the Boys Nation Leadership Camp. During the course of the scramble, he met President John F. Kennedy and was inspired to one day have a career in politics. He was an active student at Georgetown University and worked as an intern for Arkansas senator J. William Fulbright. He was the first president to win a Rhodes scholarship to study at Oxford. When Clinton returned to the states, he entered Yale Law School. It was there that he met his future wife, Hillary Rodham. After receiving his law degree, he returned to Arkansas to teach constitutional law at the University from 1974 to 1976. He married Hillary in 1975, and she put her career plans on hold to aid Bill pursue his career in politics.

After losing a hasten for the U.S. House of Representatives in 1974, Clinton was elected attorney general of Arkansas in 1976. With more than 60 percent of the vote, Clinton became the youngest governor to lead Arkansas in 1978, but unfortunately, he was defeated for a second term. This gave Mr. and Mrs. Clinton more time to focus on their only child, Chelsea, who was born in 1980.

Clinton regained the office of governor in 1982, and served in this position until he defeated incumbent George Bush and Independent Ross Perot in the 1992 presidential accelerate. Clinton presented himself as the best equipped to manage the economy, and with Tennessee senator Al Gore as running mate, he took away the Republican advantage in the southern and border states (Pious 52). He campaigned on a late-night television show wearing sunglasses and played the saxophone, and then appeared on many daytime television and radio talk shows. This new campaign strategy helped Clinton secure 42 percent of the popular vote and 370 electoral votes.

As soon as he entered office, Clinton had to deal with terrorists who had bombed the parking garage of the World Trade Center, but Clinton did not let that act of terrorism conclude him from cutting annual deficits in half and lowering unemployment. In 1993, Congress celebrated the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which created a free-trade zone between the United States, Mexico, and Canada. A year later, Congress ratified the General Agreements on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), which lowered tariffs and provided for a World Trade Organization (WTO). As the first baby boomer, Clinton tried to help the older generation by proposing a bill that would provide health insurance to all Americans, but it was defeated in Congress.

Even during his first term, Clinton was accused of being fraction of scandal involving a failed savings and loan institution in Arkansas, known as Whitewater. His questionable character turned disastrous for the Democrats in the 1994 mid-term election, and Republicans won control of the House and Senate.

For the next year, the battle between Congress and the president over the federal budget was in a gridlock. The House and the Senate passed a bill that would have cut taxes and balanced the budget by 2002, but health, education, and environment spending would have been reduce dramatically. Clinton objected to this strategy and vetoed the bill. Without a budget in plot, the government began to run out of money. In November 1995, a partial shutdown of the federal government was forced. On the sixth day, President Clinton celebrated the Republican version of balancing the budget. In return, Congress common stopgap spending bills. Both branches continued to disagree on the specifics of the bill, and in December, Congress forced another government shutdown that lasted for three weeks.

While the budget crisis was unfolding, Serbs, Croats, and Bosnian Muslims were fighting a bloody war in the former Yugoslavia. During four years of fighting, 250,000 people had died. President Clinton brought the warring factions together at an air force base in Dayton, Ohio, and after three weeks of negotiations, the three parties agreed on a peace plan. For his part, President Clinton, agreed to send twenty thousand troops into the state of Bosnia to help preserve the peace. These soldiers were part of a ninety-thousand-soldier United Nations Implementation Force (IFOR).

In September 1996, the first peaceful elections in Bosnia were held (The same year, Clinton defeated Senator Bob Dole and was reelected to another term as president.). Unfortunately, the peace was broken when the president elect of Bosnia, Slobodan Milosevic, focused his attentions on the Muslim inhabitants of Kosovo. In 1997, Christian Serb security forces began “cleansing” Kosovo of its many Muslim citizens. Finally, in October 1998 the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) intervened and issued an ultimatum to Milosevic. Milosevic withdrew just enough troops from Kosovo to delay air strikes. In March 1999, frustrated with Milosevic’s unwillingness to negotiate, NATO began an eleven-week aerial offensive. President Clinton had the tough task of supporting the NATO effort while keeping peace with the Russians, who were longtime allies of the Serb, but since Clinton had close person ties with the Russian president, Boris Yeltsin, the State Department was able to acquire Yeltsin’s to help pressure Milosevic to concede. On June 9, 1999, Serbia withdrew its troops from Kosovo, and Milosevic was ousted from office during the 2000 Serbian elections.

Clinton also claimed victories of foreign diplomacy in Northern Ireland and the Middle East. He helped create a power-sharing agreement between Protestants and Catholics in Northern Ireland in 1998. He worked with Israelis and Palestinians to begin the implementation of the 1993 Oslo Peace Plan. He met with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian leader Yasir Arafat on two different occasions to originate negotiations. In other parts of the world, Clinton negotiated with North Korea to halt its development of nuclear weapons, and he allowed former President Jimmy Carter to negotiate an agreement with Haiti’s military rulers. Twenty years, after the end of the Vietnam War, Clinton established diplomatic relations with the communist government of Vietnam.

At home, in the States, the economy was booming. In February 1998, Clinton proposed the first balanced budget since 1969, and a year later, the government was running a surplus. In March 1999, the Dow Jones Industrial Average topped ten thousand points. Obscene employment, low inflation, and high productivity were other factors of the economic growth.

Clinton’s administration was receiving high job approval ratings from the pleased and healthy nation, but in January 1998, the media reported a scandal that would get the history books remember Clinton as the second president to be impeached. The story charged him with lying under oath to conceal an intimate relationship he had with a White House intern, Monica Lewinsky. For many months, Clinton denied the affair, but in August he admitted to having an “improper relationship” with Lewinsky and that he had been misleading people. Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr presented his investigations to the House in December, and the House voted to impeach Clinton for perjury and obstruction of justice committed during the investigation of his sexual relationships with Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky (Pious 53). Voters continued to give Clinton high approval ratings, and two months later, the Senate voted to acquit him.

Clinton made valiant strides in the most troublesome areas of foreign diplomacy, namely Israel, Palestine, and North Korea. He secured trade agreements that will benefit America’s economy for years to come. He presided over the longest period of economic expansion in U.S. history, but because of the impeachment crisis, his legacy is noxious with a few bad decisions.

However, what if Clinton had never been president? Perhaps, the U.S. economy would be in an even greater state of debt than it is right now. Former President Bush or former Senator Bob Dole may not have been able to create a federal surplus that helped cushion the blow that the economy took after 9/11, but the biggest answer relies on his tainted legacy. If he had never been president, would politics continue to operate under faulty moral authority? Future presidents could continue to get away with having affairs while they were married. Clinton was not the first president to have an affair. He was just the first one to lie about it and get caught. The whole controversy that followed taught Americans what you do will eventually catch up to you. Not even the president can hide from the press. Perhaps, that entire mess taught young politicians to be more conscious of the decisions that they make. If Clinton had not have been President of the United States, there would be many politicians still rolling along with not only corrupt careers but a corrupt sense of self and moral value. If Clinton going on trial for his affair was the only thing that came from his presidency, it was still a needed reality check for America.

Are you seeking ways to gain cheap car insurance? Everyone is trying to prick corners due to the economic downturn, and car insurance is a large section of anyone’s budget.

The dilemma is how cheap is defined; the dictionary will give you two options. Cheap can mean having a surprising crude cost for the product or service obtained, or it can mean a product that is low-quality and inferior.

Your goal should be to obtain the best quality insurance coverage you can find at the lowest possible price. The alternative can leave you in a genuine bad situation.

If you purchase a poor policy that has inadequate coverage, you can end up financially ruined. That policy will not turn out to be a savings! The most important step in knowing how to score cheap car insurance is to do comparison shopping. You would not think of purchasing a refrigerator without checking for the best options available at the best price. The same applies to insuring your automobile. How do you do this? You could call several agencies or go in person; some people prefer to do business this procedure. The alternative more and more people are using is to get online and get several quotes. You can just search “car insurance quotes” or you can be more specific and search for “car insurance quotes Cleveland” or the name of your town. Just remember to compare apples to apples, not just focusing on the price, but the policy details.

Contemplate the deductible involved: a higher deductible usually means you get a slightly lower premium. The downside is that at the time of an accident, you must have access to that cash immediately, especially if someone else’s vehicle is involved or if your vehicle is under lien.

Liability coverage is one state where you want to tip-toe. You don’t want to ever be caught with inadequate coverage. Most states have required amounts you have to carry, but that may not be enough.

In a split second that it takes you to look off the road, you could cause an accident. Just hospital bills for someone you injured could mount up to an exorbitant amount. And, you must contemplate the unpleasant possibility of a lawsuit. Notice how many law offices there are in your town; they are not operating solely for divorce cases!

While you certainly don’t want to pay for unnecessary coverage, you need to be Positive you are adequately protected. Here is the Most IMPORTANT part of any policy quote you consider when trying to get cheap auto insurance.

I am not an insurance professional, but I have worked as a moral secretary. I do know that this is one area where trying to place money the wrong way could raze the rest of your life. If you don’t have the money when they sue you, it will be garnisheed out of your salary forever!

Ask lots of questions to friends and family about their liability coverage. Ask insurance professionals and find out what level of liability coverage you should bag, if you are unsure. Having a proper driving record will help you get cheap car insurance. Be sure all records are correctly expunged at the right time, if you have had a few marks against you.

It is helpful if anyone on your policy takes approved drivers education courses, especially drivers under 25 and any drivers with some past problems that are causing higher rates. Take any driver schools available for folks with speeding tickets, whether the court orders it or not. Usually, if the margin of speeding is great or reckless driving is involved, the judge will require it.

If you have younger drivers, it is primary that you document their good grades, if they have them. This will often help you procure cheap car insurance. Also, you can camouflage them to just drive one vehicle, if desired, but be sure that they don’t drive the other vehicles uninsured. I would be quite careful with that option.

Mediate ahead about those sports cars; check what the rating of a vehicle is before you purchase it. Some cars are speed demons, causing the calmest of individuals to rev their engines! Some vehicles are a car thief’ s choice. Others are classics with very high cost replacement parts. consider all of these issues before purchase, if possible!

This next option sounds really bizarre, but clean up your credit rating. Check for errors. Automobile insurance companies are checking credit more and more, especially since so much of this is done online, now. This will effect your ability to find cheap insurance.

Tips & Warnings

JUST BE SURE, you come by adequate coverage, or you could be regretting that cheap car insurance the rest of your life.

Your auto insurance premium is based on a variety of both controllable and uncontrollable factors. From your age, marital status, and driving record to the type of car you drive and where you drive it, there are many different factors that determine how much you will pay for auto insurance. Cheap auto insurance can be obtained just by changing a few factors in your policy. Cheap car insurance rates do not mean that you have cheap coverage–just that you have the amount of coverage that is necessary and you are saving money! Here are some steps that you can take today to lower your auto insurance premiums so that you too can have cheap auto insurance!

Cheap Auto Insurance Premiums Step 1: If you do not already have a theft device on your vehicle then this is a great way to get a lower insurance premium. Not only will your car be safer from thieves but your insurance company will immediately reward you for having an anti-theft or a theft deterrent system installed on the car. Many cars already approach with alarms and other various theft deterrent systems today but if your vehicle doesn’t have one then this is something that you can easily do and it will benefit you in more than one way. Cheap auto insurance rates are based on the likelihood of your vehicle being stolen and if you have a theft deterrent system the chances of your car being stolen are greatly decreased.

Cheap Auto Insurance Premiums Step 2: Policy changes can have an impact on whether or not you get a cheap auto insurance rate or not. For instance, you can call the insurer up and change the amount of coverage you have for certain services such as medical payments or liability and these changes will usually lower your car insurance significantly. Other changes that you can quickly make to your policy over the phone to get a cheap car insurance rate include changing the amount of your deductibles from low or no deductibles to a higher amount such as $1000 or more. Just make positive that you always have enough money in the bank to camouflage the deductible because in the event that you do have an accident you will need to have the deductible in order to get your vehicle fixed!

Cheap Auto Insurance Premiums Step 3: Changing the way that you make your payments will sometimes get you a huge car insurance discount. Many insurance companies offer lower car insurance rates to individuals who have their payments automatically drafted from their credit card or bank accounts when the payment is due. You can call your insurance company and ask if you will get a cheaper rate for changing the way that you make your payments. In addition to saving money on envelopes and stamps, you will likely save up to 20% on you car insurance too!

Cheap Auto Insurance Premiums Step 4: Combining your insurance policies or getting a policy for more than one vehicle will usually afford you a discount. Cheap car insurance premiums will often go up if you take an additional vehicle off of the policy and these same premiums usually go down with the addition of a vehicle. If you have more than one vehicle then it makes sense not to have more than one auto insurance policy because it will save you money. You can also look into adding other insurance policies with the same company to get a discount on your auto insurance. Homeowner’s Insurance, Renter’s Insurance, ATV insurance, health insurance, life insurance–the list goes on and on and if you combine your policies with the same company you will usually perceive significant savings on your car insurance policy.

Cheap Auto Insurance Premiums Step 5: Finally, shopping around is by far one of the best ways that you can get cheap car insurance. You can’t honest remove the first policy based on having received one quote. Often times the rates from one company to another are so significantly different that you would judge they were based on different vehicles or a totally different driver. You must shop around for auto insurance and you should also try to go with a company that will offer an annual policy rather than a 6 month term because annual policies tend to be cheaper. Throw in a defensive driving course before you get your next insurance policy and you will find yourself with even more cheap car insurance offers than before!

When I owned my first car, I knew nothing about insurance, how it worked, or where to go to get it. I basically asked my parents and they set me up with their company. I assumed that my parents knew about insurance. I’m sure there are plenty of people out there that are the same way and have probably stuck with their car insurance or any insurance for that very reason. However, like the dozens of television commercials say, “You might be paying too much for your car insurance”. In some cases that’s not a bait and switch, that is reality. There are probably a lot of people out there who are paying a ton on car insurance for terrible coverage. We must remember that insurance companies are like any other business and are out to make a profit. They like to paint themselves as “do-gooders”, but for the most part they are providing a service just like any company. With this in mind, we should be approaching car insurance like we do when we shop at a department store. If you take the time and shop smart, you could literally save hundreds.

First, go online and search for a good list of auto insurers. There are plenty out there. Make a list on a fraction of paper of all the one’s you would feel the most comfortable. This involves reading their websites, reviews, and other outside information on each company. Once you are finished getting on the preliminary information you will start to see what the quotes will be for each company. Most insurance companies today have forms you can fill out on their websites to get an estimated premium quote. This means that they can give you a good ballpark figure of what you would be paying. This does not mean that it is the actual amount. One thing to keep in mind during this step is that once you fill these quote forms out they will be hunting you down for your business. You’ve figured out the ball park numbers, write them down next to each of the insurance companies names.

Before we become too lickety-split, the thing that you have to remember is that buying insurance can be like buying from Wal-mart in comparison to Target. Sometimes, you can buy the same DVD at Wal-mart for a cheaper price than you would at Target. There are insurance companies out there that are unbiased more expensive than others and in a lot of ways there is no reason for them to be that expensive. First, weed out the companies that just seem a little too “shady” or have bad reviews and a bad reputation. Even if the premium is really shameful, I would think twice before jumping into something that might end up being a can of worms. Second, get rid of the high premium companies. Their coverages probably aren’t worth the money. Once you’ve reached a shorter list, then now you will start going to their local offices. Finally, get the phone numbers to the local insurance agent business office and set up an appointment to talk more in depth about their services. This doesn’t mean you’re set to steal the insurance necessarily, but it’s a way for you to get more information.

Before you make a unpleasant decision by choosing your insurance company purely for low premium only, I will advise a few things. First, does it seem like they value customer service? When you call in to make a claim, or get something changed on your policy, the last thing you are going to want to deal with is a call representative or agent that is a jerk or doesn’t care. You don’t want your insurance company hassling you about service they should be providing you. Second, how reputable is this insurance company? Just because they are an “insurance” company doesn’t mean they are going to automatically be stand up business people (See AIG). Insurance companies are selling you “Peace of mind”. Peace of mind in their coverage and peace of mind that they will take care of you if something bad happens. If this company has a bad reputation for not paying out claims, or giving more hassle than it’s worth, then I would assume twice before signing your business over to them. Third, what extra services are they willing to provide? A lot of times insurance companies might have a microscopic higher of premium, but will be providing extra services in return. For instance, there are “Forgiveness” programs where if you get into one accident they won’t jack up your premium. Sure, you might be paying a little extra, but probably not even halt to what you would pay after you got into an accident. In the end, low premium is good and is what you want to strive for, but at the same time keep in mind the extra value that some insurance companies can provide. Ultimately, you want to get somewhat of a happy medium. Get that low premium, but also with the added value of a quality insurance company that you know you can trust.

At this point you are ready to make the final decision and the good news is is that insurance never does the “contract” stuff that cell phone companies or what have you try to pull. So, if you aren’t satisfied with the company or service you can always bolt and find another company. Hopefully by this time you are happy to compose the switch to save some money and hopefully have a new relationship with an insurance company.

First names are overrated. And, it turns out my last name is meaningless as far as Google’s search results go. Not to mention my valiant efforts to search diligently through the cluster-f-ck of text, URL’s, links, and web pages the search engine spit aid onto my laptop screen. So, after thorough research I discovered my middle name, James, means “one who supplants.” To clarify things, the word supplant means “to prefer the place of (another) especially through intrigue or underhanded tactics.” (1) Now, it turns out the meaning of my middle name does not actually portray me, rather it reminds me of and describes my hero The King, the evil mascot of the fast-food chain known as Burger King.

I aspire each and every day to be more like The King and to live up to the moral standards he subliminally presents to the television audience. I wish I could be as creepy and sneaky as he is and still be loved by everyone. I wish I could be myself no matter how weird and be accepted. Advance on, who do you know that could procure away with never speaking and handing out scrumptious entrees in random, private places to unsuspecting people? The King clearly has an overabundance of talent and social knowledge when dealing with people of today’s world, which is not and easy task to say the least. In fact, people today can apparently mistake a Lite-Brite representation of adult-swim TV-star Err for a bomb planted by terrorists. (2) But, beyond his ability to deal with the ignorant and insane, The King has inspired people in many other ways. That beautiful crown which sits upon his oversized head, a charming smile forever fixed on his plastic face, and that stylin’ robe where he stashes away delicious treats made at his home in Burger Kingdom are all what build him such a popular T.V. celebrity and national icon.

The conception for this remarkably admired character actually started much earlier than many people currently beget. Back in the 1970′s the Burger King Restaurant Corporation used a more normal-looking representation of The King as piece of its marketing and advertising campaign. The fast-food chain then moved in a different direction to promote its products until recent years when The King was resurrected with a new look that brought joy to millions customers around the world. In 2004, the BK lounge unveiled its new Double Croissan’wich breakfast sandwich by encouraging patrons to “Wake up with The King.” In the televised ad a man wakes up in his bed to early morning birds chirping outside and then discovers he’s not alone as The King appears from the bed holding out the breakfast sandwich. At first, the man is surprised and probably scared by the wide-smiling, giant headed man of royalty, but then he realizes that The King means nothing but the best. The man accepts the situation and who The King is, and finally the two men share a nice laugh together. (3)

Since then The King has appeared in dozens of commercials and has continued to gain more and more fans. He has performed a victory dance in the end zone after scoring a touchdown, survived horrific crashes on a dirt bike, and turned into a giant and danced with a beautiful woman in a downtown apartment building. He even conducted an orchestra of a Broadway-Styled show called “The Whopperettes” on the biggest night of the year for televised commercials during Super Bowl XL. (4) He has reached the pinnacle of being ultra-mega cool by having his own My Station page called “The King’s Court” where fans can inspect videos and other media about this wondrous figure. (5) He has even starred in three X-Box video games released by Burger King in 2006. The games sold for only three dollars and 99 cents a piece when customers purchased them along with a value meal. The video game sales were a huge factor in the company’s 40 percent growth in revenue last year. (6) I can tell you from personal experience that impersonating The King in these video games not only fills me with delight but also makes me crave the deliciousness of a Spicy Tendercrisp Chicken sandwich, some onion rings and an ice-cold soft drink.

The Geico Gecko is adorable and makes us chuckle but no one ever has or ever will advance the level The King has. His stunts are so unpredictable, and he’s never spoken a word but he has captured out hearts, minds and imaginations and has taught us some valuable life lessons in the process by just being the weird, crazy guy he is.

I learned a lot from this radical name-finding experience. Apparently, another Matt Rocheleau has fulfilled the American Dream of becoming the owner and manager of The Clam Man, a seafood restaurant in Falmouth, MA. I am also dead and my obituary is available online. (7) However, most of all I learned that you have to find who you are and just be that person. The King has to be creepy yet pleasant because that is who he is. This majestic character couldn’t just come up to you and be like, “Yo…hey…you uh…you wanna eat a tasty chicken sangwich with me? ” If he did you’d probably consider something along the lines of, “D-mn! Is this guy fo’ staunch real or fo’ play play?!?,” then hurry away in terror after possibly injuring this poor, generous spokesperson to lessen the possibility of an ensuing paddle. The King has to “Have It His Device” and be sneaky when he delivers the appetizing, mouth-watering burgers and fries. In that same design, I can not avoid doing all the things that make me ‘weird’ or ‘unusual,’ like the uncanny urge to write this wacked-out essay. If I did I would not be me, Matthew JAMES Rocheleau, the kid who devoted a night of his life to creepily stalking, researching and writing about some fast-food icon. This whole essay topic started as the ‘best’ of a bunch of bad ideas as I struggled to use my sh-tty names with their awful and non-existent meanings and come up with something I wanted to write about. I wanted to do something different and make people laugh, and in doing so I realized how distinguished creativity and distinct individuals are to me. So I guess that’s pretty wicked sweet. The King makes me satisfied and makes me laugh because he’s so unique and special and hopefully my unique, special topic brought a smile to your face or at least entertained you. (8)

The automobile industry has gone green with their hybrids ands electric cars. Some may glance at the eco-friendly cars as a real oddity with their styles shapes and sizes and boom never to be caught boring in one. Men may avoid the unusual electric cars thinking the electric cars will not hold up to the more masculine muscle cars with performance and power but the attend that the eco-friendly electric cars can add to our environment is outstanding.

The auto industry has been playing around with the whole Go Green movement for a while now. Different companies have advance out with models of hybrids and battery conversions that allow your car to run while in idle strictly off the battery conserving gas. Since then, newer and more advance developments have been popping up due to the Go Green Campaign that has brought about some rather absorbing futuristic looking automobiles.

Looking at the new breeds of electric cars and taking into consideration the need for speed and the muscle car look that many men and some women demand, there are a few that could fit the bill. The Venturi Fetish is manufactured in Monaco that will cost the energy preservation conscious mind a pretty penny, actually $435,000.00 but for that aesthetic penny you get a 100% electric ran car that can top speeds of 100 mph. It definitely has the muscle car look and can run on a single charge up to 155 miles but is the macho image really worth the price? You will have to be the judge of that yourself.

Zenn Motors has come out with the closest looking electric vehicle to a SUV to date but is lacking in ability, range, and definitely lacking in speed and capability of performing like the traditional SUV’s. The Zenn NEV is more fitting for short trips to the local grocery store. Performance wise, it cannot be driven on an interstate itsy-bitsy lone a county road with its top speed of 25 miles per hour with a maximum of 35 miles per charge. However, price comparison to the Venturi Fetish, the Zenn NEV runs at $12 to $15,000.00 so if you are only going next door or to the local grocery store, a cab may be a better route regardless of the low price.

Okay, everyone loves a convertible, right; well how about a 100% ran electric convertible car that has a range of 150 miles per charge and can reach speeds up to 100 mph, like the Spyder. This all-electric car definitely has a look that would turn heads and should for the price tag of $70,000.00.

For the need for urge and the macho look to boot for $293K you can pick yourself up the sweet Lightning GT 100 % electric car from the United Kingdoms Lightning Car Company. Now this car will do more then get you to the grocery store and back with the 250-mile range per charge. The Lightening GT tops out at 130 mph and can go from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds flat. Compare that to a Jags 4.2 XKR convertibles speed of the 0 to 60 in 5 seconds, the Lightning GT is nothing to smirk at and puts to rest the notion that going electric means giving up power and performance.

Many companies have reach out with electric cars or have new models on the verge of being announced. Some electric cars come with a hefty price tag and others are reasonable. It is dependent upon the driver’s needs, ideals of how a car should do, and presentation that will determine what will be parked in the driveway. However, the price does reflect the serve of preserving the environment and saving the owner in fuel cost. Time will tell how reflective the value will be with the new electric cars in comparison to frequency and types of repairs needed and how, if at all, they offset the initial acquire sign.

In it’s sixth year the Corporate Equity Index, sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation found more acceptance of GLBT workers. It reports that more employers are offering full benefit packages to their GLBT workers.

More than 8.3 million workers are employed at companies that met all of the criteria quizzed by the Human Rights Campaign. The study rated various factors including having non-discrimination policies, diversity training, and benefits programs for same-sex domestic partners and transgender employees.

Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese said, “More businesses than ever before have recognized the value of a diverse and dedicated workforce. More importantly, these employers understand that discrimination against GLBT workers will ultimately distress their ability to compete in the global marketplace.”

More companies rated 100 percent

When the survey about GLBT benefits began six years ago, only 13 companies received the top rating. Between them, these 13 companies employed 690,000 workers. Last year? 138 companies rated “100 percent” in the GLBT seek. This year? That figure has increased a whopping 41 percent. Today, 195 major U.S. corporations offer benefits to their GLBT workers.

Cities and towns are also protecting GLBT workers

Cities and towns in the U.S. are also adding workplace protections to protect workers against discrimination based on sexual orientation. Over 280 cities and towns, 19 states have laws or ordinances to protect people from discrimination based on sexual orientation. The laws in 11 states also prohibit discrimination based on gender identity.

Businesses anticipate federal legislation concerning GLBT benefits

More businesses in corporate America are moving towards having equality policies for all workers, including GLBT. They may anticipate federal legislation that could force them do provide protection and benefits for GLBT employees. The U.S. House of Representatives will be considering the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) that would ban discrimination in the workplace due to sexual orientation and gender identity.

States with highest number of employers scoring 100 percent

The states of New York, California, and Illinois, respectively, have the largest number of businesses that rated 100 percent, meaning they had the best policies for GLBT workers.

Survey findings

Some of the findings of the Corporate Equity Index regarding GLBT workers include:

- The banking and financial services industry has 32 companies with 100 percent, more than any other industry. While there are 30 law firms with the top rating, up from 12 last year.

- 58 percent of firms provide employment protections on the basis of gender identity.

-Among the 57 companies that have newly achieved a perfect score of 100 percent are: Allstate Insurance Co., Electronic Arts Inc., Esurance
Inc., J.C. Penney Co. Inc., KeyCorp, Macy’s Inc., Marriott International Inc., Mastercard Inc., Waste Management Inc. and Yahoo! Inc.
